Joseph William Robinson was born in Waverly to George Edward Robinson. The 20 year old enlisted in Casula and embarked the HMAT Orsova A67 on 11 of March 1916, from Sydney. The 20 Infantry Battalion was stationed in France 1917. This was very a tragic year for Private Robinson, he was wounded badly with a gunshot wound to his left leg and arm. He was treated as soon as he was wounded, on the 5 of July 1918. Due to his injuries, he was discharged from the army.
