Private G Hearne attempted to enlist three times in 1917, but was turned down on account of only being 18 years of age at time of enlistment.

He was in the Military Guard at the Concentration Camp in Liverpool, where he was to wait until he was 19 so he could be sent on active duty. He was the son of Mrs G Hearne. He was the brother of Private Will Hearne and Private E. F. Hearne.
