Edgar was a single, 23 year-old draper and the

son of James Bensley of “Killarney” in O’Connell St, Parramatta. He joined the forces 18 Sept 1916 and arrived in France early in 1917. On the 26 September 1917 he was wounded in action for the second time, on this occasion it was gun shot wounds to his left arm and right leg. After a long period of convalescence in England he was finally discharged as medically unfit 11 April 1919.
